    Tour Description

Explore the azure waters, bristling with marine life, that serve as both a playground and sanctuary for divers from all over the globe. Among its many treasures, the sunken St. George ship is a poignant reminder of history intertwined with nature’s relentless reclamation.

Originally constructed in 1962 in Scotland, this 73-meter (240-foot) long vessel was once a mighty transporter of wheat and barley, ferrying goods from Europe to the Caribbean. Now, it lies submerged, an artificial reef teeming with life, captivating those who dare to explore its depths.

The St. George shipwreck located just a half mile from Dominicus, offers an immersive diving experience for advanced divers. With its resting place at a depth of 40 meters (131 feet), this site poses a challenge that is both thrilling and rewarding.

The ship’s steel hull has become a vibrant ecosystem, attracting barracudas, moray eels, king mackerels, and groupers, among other species. Each dive into these waters is a journey through time as the diver glides over the remnants of a vessel that once traversed the open sea, now serving as a habitat for diverse marine life. The juxtaposition of man-made structure and natural beauty creates a surreal tableau that leaves an indelible mark on the diver’s experience.

Bayahibe’s diving conditions are generally favorable, making it an ideal destination for both novice and experienced divers. Most of the reefs just offshore, along with the protected side of Saona Island, are characterized by little to no current, allowing for a comfortable exploration of the underwater wonders. The clarity of the water further enhances visibility, revealing a world that is both vibrant and serene. The coral formations, teeming with an array of colorful fish, seem to dance gently with the currents, inviting divers to immerse themselves fully in this aquatic paradise.

Bayahibe stands out as a premier diving destination, where the allure of history and nature converge in the depths of the Caribbean Sea.

The St. George shipwreck serves as both a historical artifact and a vibrant ecosystem, inviting divers to explore its depths and witness the beauty of marine life that has claimed it as home.
