Tour Description

The St. George ship is situated half a mile off the coast of Dominicus in Bayahibe, measuring 73 meters (240 feet) in length. George’s ship was originally built in 1962 in Scotland and was used to transport wheat and barley from Europe to the Caribbean. Today, the sunken ship serves as an artificial reef, providing habitat for various marine species, including barracudas, moray eels, king mackerels, and groupers. Due to its depth of 40 meters (131 feet), this dive site is recommended only for advanced divers.

In addition to the wreck, the small fishing village of Bayahibe, located on the south coast of the Dominican Republic, offers a variety of dive sites suitable for divers of all skill levels. Scuba diving in Bayahibe is regarded as some of the best diving on the entire island, thanks to its year-round warm climate and diverse marine life. Diving conditions in Bayahibe are generally accessible, with most reefs just offshore and the protected side of Saona Island exhibiting little to no current.
